Camping Anchorage
Mom’s flight left at midnight, so after watching the bore tide and having a nice meal, we dropped her at the airport. Usually, camping in a big city is a problem. This time, our Airstream friends had this all figured out for us. They are members of the Moose and Elks lodges, which usually accommodate camping in major urban locations. Lucky for us, they happened to be at the Anchorage Moose Lodge (and they allow guests).
Even luckier for us was that the next day was their annual picnic. Kids games, BBQ and beer. Sure, we’ll stay!
One activity involved $400 in change hidden in a haystack. Bode netted about $10, and with $5 camping, we were making money on the deal. Then we realized there was free beer! It would only be a matter of time before things turned pear-shaped.
Pretty soon, the adults were racing through the bouncy maze.
Put an Airstream and a VW in a parking lot, and you seem to attract all sorts of interesting folks.
