Border day – back into the U.S.
There was quite a bit of technology at the Alaskan border, but the agent just swiped our passports and said hello. Pretty simple.
This part of Alaska is pretty swampy, so the mosquito issue is understandable. At least the birds are well-fed.
We stocked up for supplies in Tok and cruised a little farther to Moon Lake. Dave and Ann had already set up shop lakeside.
It’s actually warm enough for a swim, so we jumped in for a quick rinse. Something I never imagined we’d be doing – swimming in Alaska. But, we’ve had sunny skies and temperatures in the 80’s.
Unfortunately, with the heat and lack of rain, it’s prime forest-fire season. By the end of the day, the smoke started blowing in and we started hearing about all the local fires. Right now there are over 200 wildfires in Alaska, so it might be smokey summer.
