Tubin’
The clear day was deceptively windy and the tubing hill was deceptively steep.
There was a moment of sheer terror before tipping over the edge and flying downhill on the icy slope. This is a FAST hill.
We chose the ‘historic’ slope this time, as we had been told that the newer, fancier tubing hill was trying to run this guy out of business.
The motorized system that pulled our tubes up the steep hillĀ seemed perfectly modern.
Still, the Broncos-colored warming hut/ snack bar was right out of 1978 – complete with Whatchamacallits. This is definitely our spot.
Hey Bro. that looks like the place we went tubing all those many, many years ago. Did they have the lift system that just consisted of a metal handle that pulled you up as you sat on your tube?
Bro – since that was ’76, I have no clue. Still, this has got to be the one. The lift had the metal handles and everyone says this is the ‘original’ tubing hill. Angela wants to see the photo of you with a snowball on your head…
Looks awesome!
Keep in mind this is coming from a non-helmet-wearing skier —- Seems I’d be more likely to wear a helmet going down a tubing hill with no ability to steer away from bumps, etc., than when skiing/boarding when you can at least “try” to control.
Kelly – helmets would be a very good idea. We didn’t know what to expect. And, they make you sign a bunch of waivers and watch a safety video before you get a tube.
Bro. Took a closer look at the pics. Yep, that’s the place we went tubing. I remember the rail road tracks across the street. A little fewer trees than I remember. Wow was that ’76. How time flies. I think I burned that picture with the snow ball.
