The Welcome Wagon

We learned that after 1 PM on Sunday, the gas stations close in Tumeremo.  So, we had to spend an unintended night in this un-scenic town. But, even with the cost of the hotel and a full tank of gas the next morning, we were still feeling pretty good about the budget. Venezuela is quite affordable.

By 9 AM we were on the road to our intended destination: Ciudad Bolivar. On the way, a car pulled up next to us honking and waving us over to side of the road.  We had a good feeling about this guy so we followed him. It turned out, he was the president of the Ciudad Bolivar VW Club. Total coincidence. He asked if we needed anything, and Jason said we were looking for a distributor. He said he had one and told us to follow him to his house.

We were 100 km away, so we got an escort all the way to Ciudad Bolivar. On the way, he gathered  a few of the club members to greet us there. A nice way to enter a new town!

The usual photos were taken. Along with the gift of an old broken distributor, Red Beard got stickers from the club.  Later, a few of the guys came over to visit at our campsite. Many more photos were taken.

And, we received quite a few emails from readers worried about our whereabouts after not posting for a week. Unexpected, and of course, the concern is appreciated. We doing great, but with little access to internet lately. Thanks for not sending out a search party (it happens!)

Can you make one good distributor from two broken ones?

Not really. They suggested we could repair it but its frozen solid. Still, we appreciate the sentiment.
