Halifax

I called my Mom on Tuesday afternoon and asked her if she wanted to visit us. We picked her up in Halifax on Friday afternoon. I love her spirit of adventure and her willingness to come visit us in whatever remote area of the world we might be in.

We decided to park the bus for a couple nights and spent time downtown in a nice sea view hotel. We were able to walk everywhere. Mom’s main goal was to eat as many lobster rolls as she could in the 5 day visit, and the best we found was at the Halifax Farmer’s market. We had some great meals with lots of mussels and lobster.

We also spent a lot of time on the boardwalk along the water, mostly at the Wave sculpture, which was surrounded by rubber flooring but had a sign that said no climbing. Still, it was the most popular kid hang out area- and evidently a Pokemon Go stop- everyone of every age was playing it. I guess we’ve been out of it, but I haven’t noticed this anywhere else.

We took the slow, seaside route west of Halifax to the famous Peggy’s Cove. A beautiful lighthouse perched on top of huge grey boulders. The only problem was the busloads of other tourists there. So, after a quick visit and some photos, we continued on to Lunenberg.
