PEI and Bus Pie

An exhaust leak that Jason had tried to fix with inferior parts earlier in the week didn’t hold, and we were in desperate need of a muffler seal fix. The sputtering was getting pretty loud. Jason had done some Facebook searching and was able to connect with Mark who then put us in touch with Terry. He was just a few minutes away and already on the way to meet us and invite over to his place.

Terry has an impossibly clean and organized shop outside of Moncton. It started as a hobby, but word of mouth of his work grew and now people from all over Canada bring their project VWs to his garage.  Fortunately for us, since air-cooled parts are scarce around here, he had what we needed. He invited us to stay, camp and make the repair in the nicest, cleanest garage I’ve ever seen. But, we already had plans to meet up with our friends again and couldn’t linger. We thanked him profusely, and hoped to meet up on his U.S. travels next winter.

So, on to Prince Edward Island via a 14 mile bridge.

We lucked into some great weather on Prince Edward Island and spent a few days lounging by the beach with Dave and Ann and Dan and Marlene and kids. All the vacationers are in full summer mode, swimming in the cold water and remarking on how warm it is. Ah, Canada.

Before we left the U.S. Bode insisted we buy a camp oven. He’s decided to become the camp chef and he needed an oven to work on his desserts. Either that, or he just wanted pie. He made pie.

With all the pie-eating and summer lounging, we all decided we needed to work on our fitness programs. Yoga for the girls. Something else for the boys.
