The Keys

Four years ago, we met Diana and Zilvanis in Patagonia. They were on bicycles, and had traveled there in 18 months. 18 months!

Diana was pregnant, and having a hard time on the bike. So, she climbed into our bus and traveled with us for about a week and a half to Ushuaia.  Zilvanis, on his bike, beat us there by at least a day!

They now live back in Chicago and run an adventure travel company. They were on their way down to the keys and stopped in Orlando to have breakfast with us. Then, they invited us to come with them to the Keys. Again, we’re flexible like that so we loaded up and met them there.

Once there, we also met up with their friends Estera and Emile. Diana and Zilvanis had all the toys loaded up – bikes, kayaks and lots of food. We spent all day having fun and all night discussing the philosophies of travel.

Though we were eaten alive by bugs, and the temperatures hovered in the high 90’s, it was an awesome four days. It’s always great to meet up again with folks you’ve met on the road.
