An Entire Winter
Handily wrapped up in one post.
Once again, for the third year in a row, we spent the entire ski season in Winter Park, CO. Way up at 9000 ft on the Continental Divide. It was a cold one, but the snow was great.
Bode was on the local ATP ski team 2 days a week with the coolest coach in the world, Matt. He already says he wants to go back and do it again next season.
Angela got a part-time job at the ski resort. Aside from the extra cash flow, all three of us got to ski for free all season and Angela got the inside scoop on all the town/resort gossip.
Aside from all the skiing, Bode was able to ‘catch up’ on homeschooling and also took rock climbing courses every Tuesday and gymnastics every Wednesday.
We managed to rent out our condo for the big holidays (Christmas-New Years, President’s weekend, Spring Break) and moved back into the bus and camped locally. This essentially brought in enough income to cover all our condo expenses for the winter.
I picked up some handyman work and tiled a kitchen, remodeled a bathroom and have a tentative bathroom remodel lined up next season. Plus, continued to evaluate project-based software work (no major opportunities, yet). Fun stuff. I also brushed up on my sailboat shopping and nearly bought a boat with Angela’s approval. Maybe… one day.
We even had some VanLifers come by for a visit, met some Instagram followers and hosted friends we met at Descend on Bend.
Well, that’s it. We’re sort-of caught up to real time. Now, it’s spring and time to hit the road again!
All this winter stuff has me wondering if you guys have ever heard of Jonny Bock. I saw this guy at the VW show at Mid America Motorworks one year. He has a split with over a million miles on it and some very cool modifications, including a wood burning stove and a pull start. I bought two of his books and found out he’s a good storyteller, too. safe travels to you, on to the next adventure
Haven’t heard on him until now, but we’ll check it out! Thanks!
Every child’s dream, right? 😉
