Yakima River and Rainier

Our buddies Dan and Marlene have spent the better part of the past 6 years traveling all over the U.S. in their Airstream, so they’re old pros. Since most of our time has been spent camping out of the U.S., we’ve still got lot’s to learn from these guys – like first class city boondocking.

Tulalip Casino will actually pay you to camp there. And, you get to use the pool and hot tub for free. Definitely a sweet overnight stop if you don’t mind sleeping in a parking lot. Thanks for the tip, guys!

We split off from here and were looking for warmer weather, so we went inland and camped on the Yakima river. It was hot and the area was packed with rafters. We had actually planned on meeting some folks and going to a VW event in Yakima, but once again, I got my dates mixed up. Wrong weekend! Never trust me with dates.

Ultimately, we looped around and hit Mt. Ranier for some hiking and another Ranger Badge for Bode. We found some nice free camping east of the park on National Forest Service land. It’s been a while, but some of this is starting to look like familiar ground.
