Yukon Bear Crazy

A bear a day… is about what you can expect to see along the roadside up here. These guys are a lot cuter and less ferocious than you might expect. Since we’re viewing them from inside our bear-proof bus, we not too worried. They seem more interested in eating flowers than us.

In desperate need of laundry and wifi, we headed to a recommended RV park on Kluane Lake. Before we even pulled into our spot, we saw a somewhat recognizable face and met Dave. We finally caught up with Advo-dna, a family of 4 (plus dog Gorilla) traveling north in a sweet Airstream trailer. We’ve been connected on the interwebs for a while and it was great to finally meet Dave, Ann, Wynn and Mae. With the sun out so late and a confusing Canadian time zone, we stayed up pretty late chatting. We never got around to the laundry or wifi.

The next day was another drive day on Yukon gravel. I’m guessing there are only two season’s here: Winter and Construction. The frost-heaves in the road made it a pretty rough ride when we were on pavement. The gravel was usually a bit smoother, but with frequent stops for construction crews and pilot cars. And more bears.
