Thermopolis

Since we’re a little early in the season, not all of the roads into The Grand Tetons or Yellowstone are open yet. It’s currently impossible to drive between the two. Or, across Yellowstone from East to West. The East-West route is set to open in 3 days. The National Parks seem to run a strict schedule on the roads – regardless of actual road conditions – so we decided to drive up a little closer and just wait.

It was a pretty good choice – there’s a free state park with hot springs and bison. “The Largest Thermal Springs in the World” according to some painted rocks on the hill above town. For a few bucks, there’s also a pay version next door with water-slides, pools and a strange ‘vapor’ room. Bode declared the water-slide “epic” and a local friend he met concurred it was “funner than crap!”

It’s a bit lower in elevation, so we had good weather and found a pleasant RV park to take care of some projects. Attempt to fix our leaking water tank. Figure out how to make camp bread with all that flour. Cobbling shoes. Important stuff. I was pleased to see that I continue to get my money’s worth out of my brake pads.

At first I thought the brake pad photo was the result of your baking efforts. I’ve baked things that look like that.
