Lander

We had to get away from the noisy freeway and took the scenic route north. There’s not a lot going on between Rawlins and Lander but sky and clouds. When we reached Lander on a wet and cold Sunday evening, we thought the town would mostly be shut down. But, then we saw the neck of a stand-up bass through a bar window and pulled over to check it out.

The Lander Bar is a pretty great venue to stumble upon an afternoon bluegrass jam. Excellent musicians including the town’s two postmen, the guy that owns the frame shop and a state park ranger. All with the appropriate lumber jack beards and flannel. After a $12 pitcher of beer, we headed out to the city park where there is free camping (up to 3 days).

Can’t help but think of Willie’s “On the Road Again”… Glad to see you all heading Westward & Northward!
