Fully Resigned
I quit.
On paper, it was a good job. In reality, it wasn’t. It had to be done.
It wasn’t a spontaneous decision, of course. There was plenty of hand-wringing and worrying about our future. Still, we’ve got no plan except… ROAD TRIP!
Everything always works out for the best in the end. We’ll be fine.
As you may have noticed, we haven’t been nearly as prolific with the blogging (or traveling) over the past year or so. Those job thingies tend to take up all of your time. After this week, I’ll be reclaiming my freedom and we will resume filling in that map.
Freedom!!
changed site layout too ? Looking funky but guess we can adapt.
Darmstad ?? I head that jobs in Germany were good 🙂
Bode – You left out an option in part II that always worked OK for me. You just don’t show up or call in. IF they start calling to see where you are (Which for some reason never happened in my case, and was puzzling to me, of course) just don’t answer, or better yet change your phone number. They would get the message when they see your blog – IF they even knew about it in the 1st place.
hey – people are still out there! Working on some site “improvements” so it works on mobile devices. It’s early, and hope to make it less funky. Let me know when I’m done 😉
You’re living my dream! Congratulations! Someday maybe I’ll be able to quit, too. Now that you’ll be travelling and posting again I can stop reading the archives over and over and over…
Wow, this is speaking to me this week. Don’t know that I need to quit but a smaller job would be good. I don’t know any part time engineers though, it’s either all or nothing..
Looking forward to more travel updates.
Today, I’m not thinking of it as quitting, but rather ‘opting out of the bullshit’ portion of work. In this case, that didn’t leave much else.
You *can* be a part-time engineer. I literally got a call with an offer for contract work the day I resigned. Totally unexpected, but a nice reminder that tomorrow is a new day. For now at least, I’ll spend that day trying to figure out how to get reasonable health insurance.
Congrats Jason!
Sounds like it’s time to put the red beast in a container bound for Europe!!
