Cuba vs. Panama
After an afternoon of digging up turtle nests, Dario asked us if we were going to the baseball game. Wha? Baseball in Todos Santos? I didn’t realize there was a baseball stadium here – they are pretty uncommon south of the U.S. border. I’m not even sure the town has a futbol field.
Sure, enough we got ourselves a game.It was some sort of Pan-American junior games and tonight’s action was Panama vs. Cuba. Awesome!

This was the real deal. Like Wrigley, the best seats in the house were in the outfield on top of somebody’s house. We decided to go in for a closer look. 40 peso entrance fee (kids free, of course) and 15 peso cold beer.
The quality of play was good and the crowd made it fun. Cuba won 2-0 and the only press was a guy giving live radio interviews over a cell-phone.
Note: the hurricane has since destroyed much of the stadium. Hopefully, it will be rebuilt soon.
Such a deal! In your relatively short time in Todos Santos you have managed to zero in on so many of the things about this little Pueblo Magico that I find special. I haven’t yet gone to a beisbol game in TS yet, but I went inside the stadium not long after it was recently improved with astroturf. A team was getting ready to practice. I had a nice chat in Spanish with some of the coaches. They were all so friendly and enthusiastic about teaching baseball skills. Another time I talked with some of the food vendors outside. I kept thinking: this is so AWESOME! Someday after my husband retires and we are able to spend more time at our TS home, we can go to baseball games right in the Pueblo Magico. It can be our future replacement for the Boston Red Sox, which is our current hometown team. They get good turn-outs for their games. I am glad the people there enjoy it so much and I hope the stadium damage from Hurricane Odile is repaired muy pronto.

Drop us a line when you cross the border – not sure where we’ll be. Bring an unlocked phone and just buy a new SIM here (you can also probably get yours unlocked here. Small cell shops will have a ‘desbloque’ sign if they do it.) Unlimited everything for around $20 USD a month, or pay as you go and it’s less. TelCel seems to have the best service. Depending on your phone, you can likely use it to broadcast wi-fi via 3G for your own hotspot. Or, Alfa makes a pretty good wi-fi range extender and it packs up small too. Pacifico is our go-to cerveza – it comes in 8-packs 😉
