Santa Cruz Boardwalk

It only took a few weeks of an August in Texas to realize we needed to make a visit to our old stomping grounds. Red Beard is still unregistered and half torn apart in our parents’ driveway, so we took a plane.

After seeing some of our dear friends, we pointed our rental car towards Santa Cruz. Santa Cruz is always on each of our Top 10 places.  Nowadays, with Bode, it’s a different kind of fun – more rides and less chilling on the beach.

And, the drive down 1 from San Francisco is still a great stretch of road.

With a little fluff on his curls, he could just pass the 50 inch mark. He’s been dreaming of riding the Giant Dipper for the last year!

Well, I just can’t tell you how much I loved reading all about all of you adventures over the last four years and how happy I was that you stopped by my place here in Oregon when you guys first started your trip and the again at Buses by the Bridge just before you headed for Mexico. I feel like I was there with you, you did such a great job writing about your days on the road the pictures you took were fantastic, you should put them all together and make a book out of your trip, I sure would want one, hell you guys should make movie and star in it too. I’m so happy that you are still posting now that you are back in the US. Santa Cruz is my old party town, I was born, raised, and live most of all of my life in Salinas, so going over to Santa Cruz was always fun. I’m hoping that I get to see you again. I’m sure you will get Red Beard put back together and back out here on the West Coast. Texas is a great place, but, not as cool as the West Coast. And, not that I’m bias or anything but Central Oregon is really oh so cool. I hope you guys come back up here and I get to set around the campfire and hear some of your great stories. As you can tell I’ve become quite fond of you guys and kind of think of you as family, even more than VW Camper family, which we all are. Thank you so much for sharing so much of your lives with all of us that would have loved to have been there with you for the last four years, your ups, your downs, good days, sick days, your wow days, as they were all great days for me and all the others who were there with you in sprit……………………

Gary! We’ll have that campout some day – and this intermission won’t last much longer – there’s more to come!

Ah, you’ve made practically our back yard look exotic! Great photos. Was just down to the Boardwalk last Friday for Papa Do-Run-Run closing out the summer’s concerts.

Thanks for the blog & journey & carrying us all along with you in Red Beard…who knew so many folks could fit in one VW van!
