Hot Taganga

We spent the better part of the week just trying to clean out the bus and figure out what was next. Taganga is not such a bad place to do it, but boy was it hot.

I had been in contact with some shipping companies over the past few weeks and had made very little progress. Getting people to respond seems to be the biggest barrier.

By the end of the week, we had pretty much come to the conclusion that there wasn’t much for Bode and Angela to do – so, we said our goodbyes and they headed off to Grammy’s house back in the U.S.  My job was to deal with shipping the bus and the nightmare of port logistics on my own.

Jason, We used Luis and his wife from Enlace in Cartagena as brokers to ship our van to Miami. I’m sure your spanish is great, but it was sure nice to have them take care of all the paperwork, customs etc.. I only spent a few hours during 2 days with them until the van was put into the container. Luis’ email:

If you come through Colorado on your way home. Stop by.

Mike – thanks for the tips! We considered a boat from Santa Marta to Miami, but decided the long drive in the US to Texas wouldn’t work for us (not registered or insured). Of course, in Cartagena, there are many other boats to choose from – thanks for the info! And, Bode wants to go skiing, so The Rockies are definitely an option!
