Chichiriviche

We had been in touch with Pedro for a few months. He was one of the very few people who encouraged us to visit Venezuela – and we’re indebted to him for the advice.

Of course, we didn’t really know him at the time. He read the blog and has a VW bus*. And, if we’ve learned anything on this trip, it’s this: you can trust a VW bus owner.

Pedro invited us to meet up once we got close to his hometown of Valencia, and ultimately we met and camped with the whole family (Xiomara, Andreina, Aimara and Ximena) at Chichiriviche.

We set up an urban boondock right on the beach at Avenida Principal de Playa Norte and had a great weekend. It doesn’t really matter where you go, this is the best part about traveling: making new friends around the world.
