Something’s Fishy

The most unique thing about the Belem mercado is the fish market. I’m no ichthyologist, but I’m guessing these are not your normal grocery store varieties. Some of these are Amazonian beasts. If you’re not cleaning your fish with a machete, then maybe you’re just not catching big enough fish.

One guy was only selling nicely-presented head halves. I assume these beauties will be floating in a bowl of soup down the street later today.
