Shine on…
More exploring in Valpo, and another beauty of a day. It’s a port town with a long naval history including getting sacked lots of times by pirates. Another San Francisco connection, anyone? How about Sir Francis Drake.
Bode saw cannons, so we headed up to the Naval museum. It’s a pretty extensive collection, and much more interesting that I was expecting.
And only at the end of our museum trip, on the way to the restroom, did we notice something incredible. The Fenix! This is the capsule designed by NASA and manufactured by the Chilean Navy to rescue the 33 miners that were trapped underground for 3 months last year. It is a big source of national pride here in Chile, and really interesting to see in person. You can even get in it! It makes Red Beard seem spacious!
That dog & Bode have the same hair cut 😉

That dog looks alot like a Briard (French Sheep Dog). We used to have one. His name was Bodhi.
