Long Term Travel is Glamorous

In the last 2 years, we’ve met some of the most incredible people (both online and in person), seen some of the world’s most amazing places and grown closer as a family.  Here’s to year #3!

We also want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped us along the way, to those who have given us advice or encouragement or other support, and to the folks reading our blog. Although it’s a big effort, we enjoy it and we hope you enjoy it too.

Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.

Jason, Angela, and Bode, (and RedBeard!!)… Congratulations on 2 great years on the road.
Here’t to many more ecstatic experiences and awesome adventures…may the journey never end. i wish I could be toasting the occasion with you all, anda frosty cold beer!

I’ve thought about you and these lyrics several times on your journey….enjoy.

Brokedown Palace, by J. Garcia and R. Hunter…

    Fare you well my honey
Fare you well my only true one
All the birds that were singing
    Have flown except you alone

Goin to leave this Broke-down Palace
On my hands and my knees I will roll roll roll
Make myself a bed by the waterside
In my time – in my time – I will roll roll roll

In a bed, in a bed
by the waterside I will lay my head
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
    to rock my soul

    River gonna take me
    Sing me sweet and sleepy
    Sing me sweet and sleepy
all the way back back home
    It’s a far gone lullaby
    sung many years ago
Mama, Mama, many worlds I’ve come
    since I first left home

    Goin’ home, goin’ home
by the waterside I will rest my bones
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
    to rock my soul

Goin to plant a weeping willow
On the banks green edge it will grow grow grow
Sing a lullaby beside the water
Lovers come and go – the river roll roll roll

Fare you well, fare you well
I love you more than words can tell
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
    to rock my soul

    Jim

It’s been a wonderful journey and I don’t begrudge you a minute of it. But we miss you. I look forward to the time I can pick up a phone and hear your voice anytime I want.

Don’t let Bode grow any more untill I can see him or he’ll be to big to want any kisses.

As Roy Rodgers used to say:
    Happy trails to you
    Untill we meet again.

Oh who needs glamour in their life anyway. Our boys still talk about y’all all the time (as do we). Keep having our dream vacation for us, and be sure to schedule a visit on your way back through Austin (2015?). I promise to hide all the toy weapons before you arrive.
    love, Carlos

First thing I did when I got home from my week and a half motorcycle trip to N.C. for the Horizons Unlimited meeting (http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/meetings) was to check in with your blog. I have read lots of good blogs about many people traveling in different ways to different destinations but none is as compelling, engaging, user-freindly and heartwarming as yours. I hope that someday (hopefully out on the road somewhere) that I have the opportunity to meet all of you and thank you in person for inviting me along on your journey and filling me with hope and inspiration especially at the times I feel most mired in “the real world”. I hope someday to not only experience similar adventures of my own but to also share the togetherness and joy with my family that you all have with each other. Thank you so much, happy travels and mucho congrats on year 3!

All of these fine folks have said it so well, the only thing I can add is that our little family is better knowing your little family, even from so far away. We can’t wait to see you again. We miss you so much!

Congratulations on your two years!! You really have been an inspiration to me – my daughter loves seeing the photos of your travels. And just yesterday my wife and I were talking about wanting to do a trip like yours – I’ve brought you guys up to her many times! We have concerns (fears) about the money, but I guess at some point you just have to take a leap of faith, right? (love the quote btw!) – may you have many continued safe travels!!
