To the Pampas

Our day started early. We took the boat back to Rurrenbaque and from there took a 4×4 to The Pampas. The road was like fine powder, and we rode in a cloud of dust the entire way. All trees and vegetation on each side of the road were covered in brown dirt. It was a slow 3 hour drive.

The area is more swampy and less jungle. We’ve left the mountains far behind and without the thick jungle cover, the animals don’t have anywhere to hide. We hoped on another small boat and started our trip out into the wetlands.

A remote place, and an interesting selection of vehicles in the 4th photo: in the background a Toyota Landcruiser 7, in the foreground a beaten-up old Mercedes “Kurzhauber” truck, obviously still going… Both are THE choice of travel vehicles for Germans (at least for the ones who don’t have the dough to spend on a 100,000+ Euros new MAN truck).
